Why both under one roof
On most jobs the transporter and the contractor work for different companies. Neither one owns the gap between them. The load lands on a site that is not ready, or the crew stands around waiting for material that left late, and each side has a reasonable explanation.
We took that gap out by keeping both divisions in one business. One operations desk plans the delivery and the site work against each other, so a change on one side moves the other side the same day.
It also means one contract, one invoice and one person to hold responsible when something slips. You are not the one carrying messages between two suppliers.
